Freespace and The Park

A new landscaped park is one of the most exciting elements of the plan for the West Kowloon Cultural District. Hong Kong can look forward to a new green open space in the heart of the city, with spectacular views of the harbour, abundant trees, green spaces and walking and cycling paths. The Park will provide the perfect venue for open-air music, dance and theatre performances, art exhibitions and other cultural events.

One of the aims of Freespace Fest is to experiment with the possibilities the park can offer. It is where our black box theatre – called ‘Freespace’ – will be located which will provide a new space for cutting edge performances and the most happening gigs. It will consist of a main performance space that can accommodate an audience of 450 seated or 900 standing as well as a foyer bar area with space for intimate live music performances. Outside you can expect to see regular concerts and festivals taking place on the outdoor stage that faces a lawn that can accommodate up to10,000 people.
